It really aggravates me seeing posts that say…

Unconventional thoughts and just something to think about.

I just find it obnoxious when people use fuck way too much as a ‘motto’ style like ‘fuck cancer’… like what even does that mean. profanity’s not cool, i dunno.

I equate ‘cool’ with responsible/respectable. so in my dictionary swearing’s not cool.

it’s just rhetoric, speak as the roman’s speak.

It really aggravates me seeing posts that say, “Fuck Cancer.” Please don’t use such a hateful word towards an illness that already causes so much heartache and fear in the patient and families that must go through it. Placing a cuss word doesn’t make it go away; it doesn’t cure nor prevent cancer from happening to people; nor does this even come close to healing the heart. It pains me to see people post it as if that’s a means of saying something. That’s their way of showing support.

It isn’t.

What you’re doing is subjecting an illness to a curse that can be thrown around which ever way and be mistreated. Cancer isn’t a joke, and should never be degraded to an ignorant phrase. Why not post sites that support cures for cancer, or marathons that are sponsored by health organizations? Why can’t we trend that instead of a picture of someone holding a sticker that says “fuck ___”? Is this what we’ve come to?

We have the ability to gather information at lightning speed, and put that knowledge into use just because we have the right to. Yet we ignore this gift in place for the catchiest or even crudest phrase thinking that will change everything. We’re doing our part by cussing something out. What does that do? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Donate money to causes; run or walk a 5k; visit sick patients; or talk to people who’ve gone (or are going) through such hard times. But please, just don’t blurt out “fuck cancer.” It’s not going to change anything.
